Description

Thigh lift (thighplasty) is an aesthetic surgery removing excess of the skin from incisions in the inner side of the thighs.

The most common patients are patients after massive weight loss with loose skin around the thights.

Thigh Lift

Facts

  • General anesthesia
  • One-day hospitalization
  • Surgery lasts 2 hours
  • Recovery after 2 - 3 weeks

General anesthesia is commonly used for a thigh lift.

The type of skin incision depends on the amount of skin:

  • For inconspicuous result incisions are made around the groin (so the scar is hidden under underwear).
  • Nevertheless a larger excess of skin needs a longer (longitudinal) incision across the thigh between knee and groin – this scar is more noticeable and is located on the inner side of the thighs. This approach allows a greater resection of the skin and better results.

Thighplasty is a surgery with resection of a larger amount of skin and mobilization and advancement of the skin. After the surgery, drains (plastic tubes with negative pressure) are usually inserted to drain blood and fluids for a few days.

The thighs are stretched and a compressive garment (elastic underware) is worn for 6 weeks.
